A popular way to make money with Google, is by using Google’s program called AdSense. As an Adsense advertiser you get a piece of the Huge revenue Google makes from its Adwords program. The way you make money is, every time a visitor clicks a Google ad on your site, Google pays you. How much you get paid for each click varies quite a bit and is based on the competitiveness of the keyword (and your site) within the Google Adwords system.
Adsense by Google was launched in 2003. Since then, AdSense has been used by site owners throughout the world to make money from Google. Even though the revenue per click is small, it can accumulate into a significant income if your site has a lot of traffic and content. Google adsense is neat because it scans your site and only displays ads relevant to the content of your site. You can even tell it what keywords to use to so Google knows what ads to display on your site. This can boost your earnings by targeting high competition keywords and displaying only those associated ads on your site.
So, how does AdSense work?
Behind the scenes, an advertiser goes to the Google AdWords system, signs up, and creates one or more advertisements that they want to pay to have appear either on Google’s search result pages or on “content network”. The content network is a network of Web sites run by individuals and organizations that include AdSense on their websites. An example of this is About.com. As an advertiser, you can choose to advertise on the entire content network, or a selection of hand picked websites. Your site will become a part of this content network. you can tell Google Adsense what keywords to use or Google will crawl your site and figure it out. You make money when your visitor clicks a Google ad on your site.
Interestingly, this program does not really cost you anything (you need a website of course) because no money crosses hand for displaying ads, only when an ad is actually clicked, then the advertiser pays Google and Google pays you. AdSense is simple, easy to accomplish, you don’t even have to negotiate (or even talk) with advertisers, but every month or two, you get a nice little check from Google corporate.
Historically, Google Asense has been very sucessful. And of course there is always still opportunities to make money from Google in this way. However, many Internet Marketers are finding Adsense is no longer as profitable to make money with as other options that are out there. That is not to say that Internet Marketers are no longer using Google to make a lot of money, that will not change any time soon. Internet Marketers still rely very much on Googles tools and Power to generate traffic. Internet marketers commonly use Googles Adwords program (HillbillyDirect.com) to buy cheap traffic, and every Internet Marketer aspires to have their website show up at the top of Google search results.
