Learning The Lingo

It goes without really saying the internet has spawned a whole new vocabulary which (if you want to make sense of it all) and when I first started online it became obvious very quickly I needed to learn the lingo - and you will need to learn too. In an online business you need to get familiar with a lot of words. There are literally thousands of words which relate to online business and the internet. I'm not going to list them all here, however I am going to give you some words which you will need to get to know. Fed Up And Not Going To Take It Any More

It's a brave marketer who deliberately stirs the pot and posts a petition on his blog slamming the way a lot of Internet marketers go about their business and calling for action. And there's nothing like controversy to rally the troops who agree and start a movement. (does Gandhi ring a bell?). We might not be living in India under oppression from the English, however we are living in times when the Internet and its anonymity, a convincing sales page, and a credible looking website all add up to people like you and me being ripped off mercilessly. Well, Rich Schefren from Strategic Profits has decided to do something about it, and the ripple is becoming a ground swell, and it started with his report The Age Attention Doctrine 2 launched on December 7. It's a must read for anyone in an online business. At the time of writing this blog, nearly 700 have agreed with Rich (including me), and are petitioning marketers to clean up their act and deliver what they promise. My hat's off to Rich. For too long the boys club has been colluding together in their despicable tactics to stuff money in their wallets and he's calling on integrity in the industry. Nothing works better than by leading by example. If you are going to make promises they better stack up. Consumers are fed up with being taken for a ride.

Quick Tip: Adding An Email Signature

One of the quickest ways to get your website details out and take advantage of viral marketing is to add an email signature to your outgoing e-mail. And it never ceases to amaze me how often it doesn’t happen. Everytime you send an email you can be letting your recipient know about your site. So what makes a good email signature? Let me show you a good signature: Your Name (in bold) Your Position ______________________ (make a separation line) Web: Your Company Website (in 12pt, same colour as Name) Phone: Your Phone Number (in 10pt) Email: Your Email Address (in 10pt) Post: Your Postal Address: (in 10pt) Tagline: "Webdesign Made Easy" (italic and bold). This signature is very easily done in Outlook or Outlook Express. You can get step by step instructions for Outlook 2003 here. And for Outlook Express here A signature can also be spmething more glamourous like a grahic with all the details in the graphic. They can also include your photo. Whatever you do keep it in the theme of your branding. Maintain continuity in the colours, the  type font and the layout (of you are using graphics).  This signature will also blend itself in with your corporate identity.  You will become known by your colours just as sure as we all know MacDonalds is red and yellow. If you haven't done a signature for your emails do it now. P.S And make sure all of your employees are following suit - your branding is at stake.
