On an "About" page it's an opportunity to tell you... some information about the person behind the site, but before we go any further I always get asked "Why did you name your business Silent Avatar? And the answer just might give you a clue...

Traditionally the word avatar relates to the Hindu word for an incarnated higher being, however in 'computer speak' avatar also means a graphical image that represents a person. Being a designer and working behind a keyboard means I do most of my communication over the internet.

In effect I am just a graphical image to a lot of people silently working away in the background on my various projects.

Like most people somewhere along the line I decided to change careers. I have a background in hospitality and business, having worked in both private and corporate sectors, but through an acquaintance was introduced to web design and internet marketing in 2000. Since 2005 I have been focused primarily on internet marketing and integrating this new knowledge with web design, taking the design process to a whole new level.

Six years on and my sites have evolved with my skills and I continue to learn new ways to improve sites and increase traffic.

Because I have been in the business world as an active participant I have the advantage that I can assimilate my previous knowledge and make it relevant to the website design.

I enjoy what I do and spend countless hours honing designs until I fell I have it "just right".

I also include clients into the "why's" of something I am doing so they have the full picture, and always keep them informed on the process.

The last thing you want is a website which is nothing but a glorified brochure. The internet now has so many mediums which you can explore to increase the success of your website it never ceases to amaze me.

My preference is to keep sites clean and clutter free. We are getting so much information bombarding us from all angles, the internet has become information overload and too much information bogs down the site visitor and can be a distracting influenence.
